      How the trip kitty works

Add everyone saving toward the goal and log each contribution as it comes in. Billsplitly adds them up, shows progress toward the target, and tracks each person's share of the fund. Progress tops out at 100%, and anything over the goal is shown separately.

With the even-split option on, the goal is divided equally between members (to the cent) and each person sees how much more they need to add to reach their share. Nobody moves money here. It's a shared record you can send to the group with "Copy share link".

Example: A $1,800 goal for three people is $600 each. If Alex has put in $300, Sam $250 and Jo $150, the fund is at 38.9% with $1,100 to go. Alex needs $300 more, Sam $350 and Jo $450.

      Frequently asked questions

      What is a trip kitty?

A shared pot that a group pays into before or during a trip, then spends on shared costs like accommodation, fuel or groceries. This tool tracks the saving side: the goal, who has put in what, and what's left.

      Does Billsplitly hold the money?

No. Keep the money in a shared account, a savings pot or with one trusted person. Billsplitly only keeps the record, in your browser.

What if we go over the goal?

Progress shows 100% and the extra appears as an amount over the goal, so you can decide whether to spend it, refund it or roll it into the next trip.

How do I share progress with the group?

Tap "Copy share link". Anyone who opens it sees the same goal and contributions. If they update it, they need to send a new link back.
